STATE OF EMERGENCY: VILLAGE OF MONTGOMERY, NY
Hello fellow residents, this is Mayor Mike Hembury. Please be advised effective immediately, I am declaring a State of Emergency in our village. Please stay off the road and do not drive unnecessarily. I drove around the village about 45 minutes ago (mid-morning) and noticed that very few cars were parked on the street, and I really appreciate the cooperation of our citizens.
As far as sanitation pick up, our dedicated Department of Public Works Superintendent and employees have stated they are going to make every effort to pick up the garbage on Monday due to the fact if they don’t, it just backs up and becomes even more difficult to pick up. However, if it doesn’t get picked up, they will deal with it when the time comes. Therefore, as of this point, it’s up in the air and no decision will be made.
Village Hall will be closed tomorrow. Monday, January 26, 2026; as well as the Senior Center. In the event that there is a power outage, the Senior Center will be opened as a warming station until power returns.
Montgomery Village is a great place to live, raise a family and get through this snowstorm, hurry up spring!
