The Town of Montgomery will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Montgomery Town Hall, 110 Bracken Road, 2nd Floor, Montgomery, NY, to discuss "A Local Law Amending Chapter 235 Of The Code Of The Town Of Montgomery-Zoning Regarding Definitions And Permitted Uses In Certain Zoning Districts"
Because the Village of Montgomery is located within the Town of Montgomery, Village residents may be affected by proposed changes to the Town’s zoning law.
Introductory Local Law No. 1 of 2026 would amend Chapter 235 of the Town Code to add definitions and permitted uses related to the film industry and related commercial uses in certain zoning districts. These uses include filming activity, conference centers, hotels and motels, catering halls, restaurants, and related accessory uses.
The proposed law also removes “Automobile Recycling Facility” from the I-1 zoning district table of uses.

Central Hudson plans to replace portions of its natural gas distribution system in the Village of Montgomery as part of a broader infrastructure replacement program in the Mid-Hudson Valley. A public information meeting regarding this project will be held on February 19, 2026 from 5:00–6:00 PM at the Senior Center, hosted by Central Hudson. The meeting will also be live streamed and available for viewing on the Village of Montgomery’s YouTube page.
The project involves replacing sections of existing natural gas main lines located within public streets, as well as service lines that connect to individual homes and businesses. Construction work will be performed by Central Hudson’s contractor, Granholm Construction.
Approximately 8,540 feet of gas lines are scheduled for replacement within the Village. Construction is expected to begin in March and is anticipated to last approximately five to six months, though timelines may vary based on site conditions and weather.
Trenching and related construction activities are planned along the following streets:
- Union Street (Route 211), from Boyd Street to Chandler Lane
- Freida Street
- Mason Street
- Luna Lane
- Railroad Avenue
- River Street
- Sears Street
- Senior Street
- Sycamore Drive
- Wave Willow Lane
- Wallkill Avenue
- Weaver Street
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Montgomery scheduled for Tuesday February 24, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. shall be held at the Village of Montgomery Senior Center located at 36 Bridge Street, Montgomery, New York. During said meeting, any lawful business of the Village shall be conducted.
